Leaving a Lasting Legacy

In the past we have received many queries from people wishing to leave a bequest to MercyCare and we feel honoured and privileged for such displays of support. With this in mind, we have created a bequest scheme that allows us to put your money to good use and to make a difference to the lives of those most in need.

What is a MercyCare Foundation bequest?

Simply put, a bequest is a provision in your Will or Living Trust which states that either all or a portion of your estate is to pass to the MercyCare Foundation.

What are the benefits of a bequest?

1) You can help people most in need and make a real impact.
By taking advantage of a bequest, donors are able to make much larger gifts than they could during their lifetime. We all know how expensive day-to-day life can be so a bequest allows you to make a donation that really makes an impact and allows us to help those most in need in Perth.

2) Bequest donors become a valued member of the Friends of MercyCare.

If you choose to remember the MercyCare Foundation in your Will your Legacy will be honoured through the works of the Friends of MercyCare. Each year at our Annual luncheon your contribution will be recognised and you will be honoured.

How much can I leave in a bequest?

There is not set amount for bequests, you can leave as little or as much as you would like. Every amount helps.

I want to make a bequest, what do I do now?

If you already have a Will, then just talk to your legal counsel and ask for their advice on how to set up a bequest to the MercyCare Foundation.

If you don’t have a Will, you’ll need to find legal counsel and write your Will. Whilst discussing your Will with legal counsel, simply alert them to the fact you would like to include a bequest to the MercyCare Foundation.

What happens if I want to change my bequest amount?

Simple. Just amend your will at any time with advice and consultation from your legal counsel. Just because you nominate one amount or percentage, doesn’t mean you can’t change that. You have complete freedom and flexibility in your bequest.

I still have questions, who can I contact?
