The Foundation
The MercyCare Foundation has been created to find new ways for MercyCare to expand and develop it’s role in providing life giving services to the community. We do this through finding additional sources of support for existing services (health, education, family and community services), nurturing new services and social enterprises, training future leaders and social entrepreneurs within MercyCare and beyond, and by providing political advocacy on behalf of the vulnerable in our society.
The foundation team will be set to work in three main areas:
- Building the community and strengthening the capacity and responsiveness of the organisation to changing needs and demands from funders, clients and government.
- Increasing and diversifying funding and resources for programmes serving the disadvantaged.
- Raising the profile of MercyCare and increasing advocacy for the organization and its clients
To do this we will:
- Be an enabler of MercyCare’s Mission by drawing on the teachings of Catherine McAuley to design and develop empowering services for the marginalised in our community in a sustainable way.
- Educate in best practice in accountability and impact in not for profit settings. The Foundation sees the partnerships between the community and not-for-profit sectors and philanthropists as a key driver of sustainable social change, expanding the range of social services delivered beyond those currently funded by Government
